MOOC for education trade unions on the inclusion of refugees and migrants

Building on the findings and outcomes delivered throughout the ETUCE project  ETU4REF, this MOOC for education trade unions on addressing the inclusion of refugees and migrants in and through education aims to build the capacity and knowledge of education trade unions to provide specific support to their affiliates regarding the inclusion of refugees and migrants in the education system with the view to contributing to long-term solutions both regarding the education of refugee and migrant students and the inclusion of refugee and migrant education personnel in the education systems of the host countries. It also seeks to promote concrete measures and practices of education trade unions in addressing the challenges that education personnel face regarding the inclusion of refugee and migrant learners in the education systems, including in the context of trade union renewal and attractiveness of the teaching profession.

Methodology

The course encompasses 4 modules with approximately 25-30 hours of active learning:

  1. Introduction
  2. Challenges and opportunities for learners and education personnel
  3. Challenges and opportunities for ETU
  4. The way forward: what can Education Trade Unions do? 

It features introductory and explanatory texts; short videos; accompanying readings; peer-to-peer learning through virtual boards - all aimed at developing and reinforcing personal and organisational knowledge and critical reflection. The MOOC is provided in English, French and Russian.
